Injured woman SHO dies

RAWALPINDI, June 20: Hameeda Sardar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of women police station Rawalpindi, died on Monday morning of injuries she sustained in a road accident on Sunday while going to Chontra on a VVIP security duty, police and hospital authorities said. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz expressed condolence on the tragic death of the lady police officer and announced Rs500,000 for her family and Rs50,000 for each of the six other lady police officials who were injured in the accident.

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi also announced Rs300,000 for the deceased SHO and Rs25,000 for each injured police official.

The police van carrying them for the prime minister’s security duty collided with a bus (RIH-6605) carrying a wedding party at Bagha Sheikhan on GT Road.

All the seven policewomen were injured - the SHO critically. The injured were shifted to the DHQ hospital where Hameeda Sardar succumbed to her injuries.
