NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, May 9: A 70 feet wide breach occurred in the Mehrab Minor near Mehrabpur town on Monday morning, inundating one hundred of acres of land. Villagers Nabi Bux Soomro, Ashiq Soomro, Siddique Soomro, Koral Soomro and union council Behlani Nazim Malik Shahid told newsmen that their harvested wheat crop was inundated.

They said a fish pond was also flooded due to breach.

The villagers alleged that the breach occurred due to negligence and non-maintenance of embankments of the minor.

SDO irrigation Bhoral Shah said that farmers were responsible for the breach because it occurred due to theft of water by damaging embankments.

He said he was going to lodge an FIR against the villagers.

Kandiaro TPO along with a police contingent reached the spot and the breach was plugged with the joint efforts of the irrigation staff.

NAWABSHAH: A 35 feet wide breach occurred in the Jamal Shah minor near Qazi Ahmed town on Monday.

Sahib Khan, Ali Gohar Zardari and Mohammad Zardari villages were affected due to water.

Cotton and cane crops over 100 acres were also affected.

Villagers along with irrigation officials were trying to plug the breach till filing of the report.

It may be mentioned that a 10 feet wide breach occurred at the same place few days back but was not plugged properly by the irrigation staff.
