PESHAWAR, May 3: Senior Minister, Sirajul Haq has said that the MMA government would streamline work on all foreign-aided programmes and projects launched in the province because the provincial government did not believe in adhocism in public welfare matters but wanted durable and solid steps for progress and welfare of the people.

He said that revolutionary reforms and facilities introduced by the MMA government in social sectors including education and health provided ample proof to the claim of his government.

He was talking to a delegation of Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) led by its chief executive Masoodul Mulk that called on him at Markaz-i-Mashawarat, Peshawar, and apprised him of its developmental and welfare activities as well as problems faced in this regard. The delegation included; Uzma Altaf provincial manager (social sector), Education Coordinator Haider Yahya and Schools Monitoring Officer Shah Hussain.

Mr Haq was told that arrangements of textbooks for the community primary schools established by the SRSP in different areas of the province has become a problem after the decision of the provincial government for the provision of free text books to all government schools as the delegation maintained that these textbooks were not available in the market for sale.

Mr Haq assured the delegation that the education de-partment and Textbook Board would be properly directed to arrange and ensure textbooks for such community schools.

Senior minister said that promotion of primary education in the province and declaring it essential was among top most priorities of his government wherein all available resources would be fully utilized.

He said that the federal government has declared this decade as the decade of achievement of 100 per cent literacy rate in Pakistan and it would be endeavour of the MMA government to achieve this target as soon as possible.
