ISLAMABAD, May 2: The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has recommended the names of 10 senior lawyers to be enrolled as Supreme Court advocates. The enrolment committee of the PBC, which met in Multan last month but announced its decision in Islamabad on Monday, took up 21 applications for enrolment as advocate of the Supreme Court.

Seven applicants were not found up to the mark by the committee and their cases were deferred for a future meeting. The rest of the cases were kept pending for different reasons.

After interviewing the applicants, the committee decided to enrol seven advocates from Multan and one each from D.G. Khan, Muzaffargarh and Bahawalpur.

The advocates from Multan are Mohammad Asghar, Ishaq Bhutta, Arshad Ali Chauhan, Mohammad Mahmood Ashraf Khan, Pervaiz Rauf, Sheikh Jamshed Hayat, Syed Mohammad Ali Gillani and Khan Abdul Haque Khan. Saeeda Asif, Chaudhry Mohammad Sanaul Haq and Shabbir Ahmed Bhutta are from D.G. Khan, Muzaffargarh and Bahawalpur, respectively.

The enrolment committee meeting was presided over by Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry of the Supreme Court, Hafiz Abdul Rehman Ansari and Rasheed A. Razvi.
