KARACHI, May 2: Town nazims and naib-nazims said that they would not tolerate any intervention into uplift of their areas and refused to give their charges to administrator. Speaking at a press conference here on Monday at the Karachi Press Club, they said that the local governments were carrying out uplift works beyond the expectations of the present government.

They alleged that some vested interests could not digest all these uplift process and wanted to stop them.

The nazims and naib-nazims said that they were ready for the elections under the supervision of the army but they would never give their charge to any administrators.

They said that they would give charge to those nazims elected in the upcoming polls.

They said that the NRB had made the new system and “we would accept whatever changes NRB made through lawmaking”.

Saddar Town Nazim Farooq Faria, Landhi Town Nazim Shahid, Korangi Town Nazim Abdul Jamil, North Nazimabad Town Nazim Fasihuddin Siddiqui were also present.—PPI
