ISLAMABAD, April 28: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Thursday formally approved the launching of Sector I-15, a source in Prime Minister’s Secretariat told Dawn on Thursday. The decision was taken in a meeting with the senior officials of the CDA.
Chairman CDA Kamran Lashari, Member Planning Mr Nusratullah, Member Finance Kamran Qureshi and a number of other officials of the authority attended the meeting.
The source said the new sector would be inaugurated by the prime minister and in this regard he had assured his availability at any time.
The new sector would be opened before June 30 and the CDA has started printing brochures and application forms in this regard.
Speaking on this occasion, the prime minister said provision of low-cost houses, especially for the low-income groups, was one of the top priorities of the government. He said the government was opening new sectors in Islamabad to improve the availability of land for construction of houses and flats which in result would reduce house demand and the prices of houses.
He directed the CDA chairman to revamp the authority so that it could become a metropolitan entity on modern lines. He was of the view that the CDA should hire the services of international experts for this purpose and present a vision reflective of any major international urban centre.
Shaukat Aziz asked the CDA chief to ensure that the process of allotment of plots and flats in the new sector was transparent and held through computer balloting.
Mr Lashari briefed the prime minister on the authority’s plans to open new sectors and construct additional blocks of secretariat buildings for government offices.
