KARACHI: Garbage collection system for DHA

KARACHI, April 28: A new improvised system of garbage collection would be introduced at the Defence Housing Authority. This was stated by DHA Administrator Brig Maqsood Hussain in a meeting with a delegation of Defence Residents Society (DRS) led by its President Zafar Iqbal at Defence Housing Authority’s main office here on Thursday.

They apprised the administrator of the problems and difficulties faced by the residents.

Later, Brig Maqsood chaired a meeting, which was attended by the delegation members, concerned DHA officials and representatives of Clifton Cantonment Board (CCB).

The DRS delegation pointed out that the streetlights on certain roads were non-functional.

The DHA administrator directed the CCB to make all the streetlights in the DHA functional at the earliest. He also informed the meeting that the DHA would soon introduce a new improvised system of garbage collection from houses in the area, which would improve the environment and give the area a neat and clean look.

Brig Maqsood directed the concerned staff to ensure revamping and synchronisation of traffic signals timings.

The administrator reiterated that the DHA was fully aware of the pressing problems and taking effective short and long term measures to address the problems effectively.—APP
