KARACHI, April 27: Two men committed suicide in different parts of the city on Wednesday. An elderly man committed suicide by jumping off the Natives Jetty Bridge Wednesday evening. Police said Syed Ali Ashraf, 65, told his driver to stop the car (ADB-663) at the Natives Jetty. Police said Mr Ashraf stood at the bridge and looked on at sea for sometime before jumping off the bridge.
Police with the help of Edhi volunteers fished out the body from the sea. Police shifted the body to Civil Hospital for legal formalities. Police said the deceased was a general manager of a shipping company and residing in Gulshan-i-Iqbal.
Edhi sources, quoting the driver, said Mr Ali Ashraf had visited the same spot a week earlier, but after standing some time returned back to his car.
In another incident, a 22-year-old man ended his life by shooting himself in the head in Gulshan-i-Iqbal Wednesday.
Police said Nazish Khan shot himself in the head in his apartment in Rufi Apartment Block 13-D.
Quoting the family sources, police said that the victim was an epilepsy patient and had been suffering from mental illness. Police shifted the body to Abbasi Hospital for legal formalities.
KILLED: A man was killed by his friend in Orangi on Wednesday morning. Police said Mohammad Ali, 45, owner of a plastic manufacturing unit, received a guest Shaukat Shahzeb in his house who stayed overnight.
Early Wednesday, the guest tried to take a gold ring off the finger of Mohammad Ali who was asleep. As Ali woke up presuming that some dacoits had barged into his house, he was shot in the chest by the guest.
Victim’s wife lodged an FIR at the Mominabad police station against the Shaukat Shahzeb.
SHOT DEAD: A housewife was shot dead by unknown persons in Saeedabad on Wednesday.
Police said Amina, 25, was found shot dead in her house in Gulshan-i-Ghazi. Victim’s father told the police that he suspected that Khan Ashraf, husband of his daughter, was behind the murder.
Police are questioning Khan Ashraf in connection with the murder of his wife.
WOUNDED: A young man was shot at and deprived of cash by armed suspects in Jauharabad on Wednesday.
Police said that Tariq came out from the office of an exchange company with a cash of Rs 35,000 in the limits of Jauharabad police station when two suspects on a motorcycle pulled up and demanded the cash. As Tariq tried to resist them, the suspects shot him and escaped after snatching cash.
