KARACHI: 10 suspects held in Lyari

KARACHI, April. 26: The police on Tuesday disclosed the arrest of as many as 10 accomplices of Rehman Dakait and Arshad Pappu gangs, along with recovery of arms. Speaking at a press conference at Baghdadi police station in Lyari, Sindh home minister Rauf Siddiqui praised the newly-set up Industrial Crime Unit for their efforts to bring peace to Lyari.

The suspects arrested by the Lyari police and the ICU during a series of raids conducted on the nights of April 25 and 26 included Hasan Bhutto, a close associate of Rehman Dakait wanted in nine cases; Allah Bux alias Allana, wanted in 11 cases; Ijaz and Abdul Waheed, Zahid and Danish and Haji Shaukat. The belong to Rehman Dacait group.

Three associates of Arshad Pappu group, identified as Fida Husain Jogi, Jawad Irani and Mohammad Irani, have also been nabbed by the police.

The Sindh home minister said that the culprits are being interrogated and some sensational disclosures are expected.

The minister said all decisions regarding Lyari would be taken regardless of political considerations.

The minister pointed out that now residents of Lyari are coming to the police with their complaints against these groups.

SHOT DEAD: A cashier of a petrol pump was shot dead by suspects in an armed hold up at Manghopir Road late Monday night.

Police said two suspects on a motorcycle came to a petrol pump at Manghopir Road. As cashier, Nasir Ahmed offered resistance, suspects opened fire and escaped after snatching cash from him.
