Godara steers team to victory

LAHORE, April 24: Three goals in the fourth chukker helped Guard Filters/PIP Group beat RC Cola/Hico 11-10 to win the Guard Rice Cup polo on Sunday. The losers had a two goal-handicap and led the first chukker 4-2.

Asif Tiwana, who scored all the eight goals, including two hat tricks for the losers, struck two goals. Dhravpal Godara who scored eight goals for the winners, also including two hat tricks, pumped in two goals.

In the second chukker the winners had reduced the lead 7-6 by scoring four goals as Godara completed his first hat trick. In all he added two goals in the second chukker while Iftikhar Ali Khan Simba also scored two goals.

For the losers, Asif Tiwana banged home three goals to complete his first hat trick.

In the third chukker, the losers maintained the lead 10-8 as Asif completed his second hat trick scoring three more goals. Godara added two goals for the winners. The fourth chukker saw the winners changing fortunes scoring three goals without any reply as Godara completed his second hat trick. Godara scored two goals while Taimur Ali Malik added a goal to complete the tally.

Five goals by Sufi Mohammad Amir and three by Sufi Mohammad Haris enabled Master Paints earn third place beating Diamond Paints 9 1/2-4. Agha Murtaza Ali Khan scored a goal for the winners, who had half goal handicap. For the losers, Aqib Sial and Irfan Ali Hyder scored two goals each.
