Venues for Pakistan, India series confirmed: Football

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, April 23: After a long wait, Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) on Saturday confirmed Quetta, Peshawar and Lahore as the venues for the first-ever football series against arch-rivals India scheduled in June.

While it will be first series against the Indians, it will be the second such activity for Pakistan who last played a four-match series against Sri Lanka abroad in March 2002, losing two matches and salvaging draws in the remaining two.

The decision about the venues was taken by the top PFF officials at a meeting in Lahore on Saturday, said a PFF spokesman.

The opener will be played on June 12 at Quetta’s Ayub Sports Complex which also played host to the 11th Asian Club Championship qualifier in 1990. The match to be played in day starts at 5.00pm.

The Qayyum Sports Complex will be the venue in Peshawar for the second match on June 16 while the third and final game kicks off at Lahore’s Punjab Stadium on June 18. The last two matches will be played under lights and are scheduled to kick off at 8.30pm.

According to PFF, All-India Football Federation (AIFF) president Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi and secretary Alberto Colaco have already confirmed the series.
