ISLAMABAD, April 23: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said the government is according high priority to preventive care, as it could play a pivotal role in reducing the incidence of diseases and providing a better quality life to the people. He was talking to a group of doctors based in the United States, who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House.

The prime minister said the government was catering to both preventive as well as diagnostic facilities and had planned to extend health care to the poor to lay the foundations of a healthy society.

He said the government was launching a nationwide programme to provide clean drinking water and good sanitary conditions to common man.

He said the overseas Pakistanis were an asset and Pakistan, recognizing their talent and expertise, would like to benefit from them for the betterment of the people.

Later, the doctors presented a management information system for the prevention of communicable disease to the prime minister.

Health Minister Mohammad Nasir Khan was also present during the meeting.
