KARACHI, April 21: The additional district and sessions judge, South, Syed Inamur Rahman, sentenced on Thursday two men to suffer life in jail for murdering a man during a quarrel. Shabbir Ahmed alias Lala and Mohammed Shakil were booked for murder by the Preedy police on March 11, 2002 on the complaint of Mohammed Sajid, brother of Sarfaraz and Mohammad Din.
As per details, the victim brothers and the accused had quarrelled during a wedding at the YMCA Ground. After the wedding ceremony, Mohammad Din went to the accused for reconciliation. However, the accused stabbed Mohammed Din and injured him. Sarfaraz also reached the scene and he was also stabbed by the accused.
The two injured were taken to the hospital where Sarfaraz breathed his last due to fatal wounds.
While sentencing them to life imprisonment, the judge remarked that he was showing leniency to them, otherwise they deserved capital punishment.
The judge sentenced two men to suffer a five-year term for attempting to murder Mohammad Din under Section 324 of the PPC. The two convicts were also ordered to pay Rs50,000 to the injured victim as compensation. The two accused were also sentenced to another five-year term. The judge also ordered them to pay Rs5,000 to the injured victim as compensation.
