Leaders congratulate cricket team


KARACHI, April 17: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Chairman of Senate and Acting President Mohammadmian Soomro, federal ministers Mohammad Ajmal Khan and Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, and the chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, on Sunday felicitated Pakistan cricket team on the glorious victory over India in the Sixth One-Day International match in New Delhi.

The prime minister, while congratulating Pakistan skipper by telephone soon after the close of play at Firoz Shah Kotla cricket stadium, said the entire nation was rejoicing in the excellent performance of the team.

The prime minister also congratulated the coach, the team members and the officials.

“It is a comprehensively convincing victory of Pakistan in a highly tough series, and the nation is proud of your leadership and the team’s effort,” the prime minister added.

Mr Soomro appreciated the spirit of the team, saying it displayed all-round performance in wiping out their opponents.

Federal ministers Mohammad Ajmal Khan and Sheikh Rashid Ahmed congratulated the team, its captain and the coach and the nation on the historic win against India in the One-Day Series.

Mohammad Ajmal Khan said, “Being minister of sports, I feel proud of the performance of the team.” Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said, “The nation is proud of their cricket team over this success.”

Qazi Hussain Ahmed congratulated the nation on the success of the cricket team against India.—APP
