KARACHI, April 15: The “B” string of the Karachi Club made a triumphant entry into the final of the First KC Inter Club Snooker One Frame League Team Event, after registering a thumping 6-0 victory over Muslim Gymkhana (MG) at the Karachi Club snooker parlour on Friday evening. Locked on top with 15 points apiece with Area Snooker Club the previous evening, Karachi Club “B” led by Mohammad Yousuf forged ahead further and with two bonus points added to the six they earned on Friday, perched themselves on top of the ladder with 23 points.

Area Snooker Club on the other hand surprised Karachi Club “A” 4-2 and moved into the second spot with 19 points while the first day’s leaders Karachi Club “A” were regulated to the third spot with 16 points.

In the opening match in the doubles event, young Baqar Kamani with Mohammad Yousuf swept past Jawed Majeed and Qadir Bhai 70/23. KC “B” were soon 2-0 ahead, when Vishan Gir and Aneel Bherwani got the better of Hunain Younis and Noman 78/43.

Yousuf put his team further ahead beating Noman 67/29 in the singles. Vishan brushed aside Hunain 86/18 to take his team further ahead 4-0. Then Aneel coming in from behind hoodwinked Jawed 47/41, while Qasim fought hard to keep Qadir at bay 62/55 to make it a clean 6-0 sweep. With two more bonus points added Karachi Club “B” were sitting pretty with 23 points.

Area Snooker Club met hardly any resistance beating Karachi Club “A” 4-2.

In the doubles event, Naveen joining hands with his cousin Amit were surprised by Salman and Farukh 42/54. To make matters worse, Irfan and Kamran shocked Atiq and Asim 80/19.

Area Snooker Club’s Irfan never gave Asim a ghost of a chance, beating him 60/26. Trailing now 0-3 KC “A” fought back to claw their way closer 2-3 when Naveen overcame lanky Salman 55/44 and Latif beat Kamran 57/31. But any slim chances of drawing the match 3-3 was soon blown apart when Farukh ended the pretension of Amit 67/47 to enable his team register a 4-2 victory.

In the last match, Karachi Club “C” beat Karachi Gymkhana 4-2.

KC “B” took the early lead when Ahmed and Bharat beat Murtaza and Akbar 68/9, in the doubles encounter. But Karachi Gymkhana drew level 1-1 after Samad and Mohammad Ali accounted for Farhan and Dileep 42/36 in a close match.

In the singles, Farhan put his team 2-1 ahead beating Murtaza 47/9 and Ahmed pushed his team further ahead 3-1 after beating Akbar 67/38. However, Karachi Gymkhana drew closer 2-3 when Mohammad Ali beat Dileep 55/46 while Bharat gave his team with a 4-2 victory beating Samad.

Doubles: Mohammad Yousuf and Baqar Kamani beat Jawed Majeed and Qadir Bhai 70/23. Vishan Gir and Dr. Aneel Bherwani beat Hunain Younis and Noman 78/43.

Area Snooker Club beat Karachi Club “A” 4-2.

Singles: Irfan Rasheed Khan beat Asim Ghani 60/26. Salman Shaikh lostto Naveen Perwani 44/55. Kamran Razzak lost to Atiq Latif Bux 31/57. Farukh Usman beat Amit Perwani 67/47.

Doubles: Salman Shaikh and Farukh Usman beat Naveen Perwani and Amit Parwani 54/42. Irfan Rasheed Khan and Kamran Razzak beat Atiq Latif Bux and Asim Ghani 80/19.

Karachi Club “C” beat Karachi Gymkhana 4-2.

Singles: Farhan Idrees beat Murtaza Rajab Ali 47/9. Ahmed Saleem beat Akbar Puri 67/38. Dileep Kumar Perwani lost to Mohammad Ali Aziz 46/55. Bharat Sataini beat Samad Zindini 51/43.

Doubles: Ahmed Saleem and Bharat Sataini beat Murtaza Rajab Ali and Akbar Puri 68/9. Dileep Kumar Perwani and Farhan Idrees lost to Samad Zindani and Mohammad Ali Aziz 36/42.
