Five killed in road crash

By Our Correspondent

SARGODHA, April 15: Five people were killed and three police officials, including the SP investigation, injured seriously in a road accident on the Sargodha-Jhang Road, some 20km from here, on Friday afternoon.

SP Abdul Hameed Niazi was coming from Sahiwal when his jeep collided with a car coming from the opposite side. Three people died on the spot, while five others, including SP Abdul Hameed, Sahiwal SHO Sultan Ahmad and gunman Nawaz, sustained injuries.

The injured were taken to the DHQ Hospital where two of them succumbed to injuries.

The car-riders killed in the accident were identified as Saeed, Ehsan, Amin, Maqsood and Iftikhar.

Murder case: Sahiwal police on Friday registered a murder case against its SHO, muharrer and a constable on the strong protest of the heirs.

Atta Muhammad of Kalra, held on the charge of kidnapping, died due to the alleged police torture. The heirs of the deceased stormed into the Sahiwal police station and demanded the registration of a murder case against the accused policemen.

Receiving an information, SP Investigation Abdul Hameed Khan hastened to the police station and tried to pacify the situation. On the demand of protesters, the SP ordered the registration of the case against SHO Sultan Ahmed, muharrer Muhammad Mumtaz and constable Muhammad Riaz.

Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully and also took away the body for the post-mortem examination.
