Contingent for Dhaka on 28th: Bridge


KARACHI, April 11: A 17-member Pakistan contingent will leave for Dhaka (Bangladesh) on April 28 to figure in the Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle East (BFAME) Bridge Championship being held there from April 28 to May 7.

Newly elected secretary of Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF) Ashfaq Tola told said on Monday that Candyland and Bridgettes will be representing the country in the championship.

Tola said Gulzar Bilal has been named as the manager of the contingent.

He said slight change has been made in the women team as a member of the Bridgettes Shahnaz Saeed pulled out of the competition because of personal reasons.

PBF secretary said Dr Tahira Naqvi was given the option to select her own partner and she picked Abida Ali.

Rest of the Bridgettes team members are Rehana Saigol, president PBF, with Zeenat Azwer and Samia Rasheed-Shireen Bukhari.

Shakeel Chandna will be Non-playing captain (NPC) of the ladies team while Shahin Iqbal will be the NPC of men’s team.

Candyland team members are Muhammad Ismail-Hasan Askri, Khalid Mohiuddin-Ziaullah Baig, Hamid Mohiuddin-Mubashir Puri.

He said no senior team will be featuring in the championship.—APP
