KARACHI, April 10: PIA eased to a fifth straight win when they defeated Karachi Port Trust (KPT) by 79 runs in the Patron’s Cup Pool ‘A’ fixture at the UBL Sports Complex on Sunday.
Yasir Hameed warmed up for Thursday’s semifinal against Pakistan Customs at the National Stadium with his second century of the tournament. The right-handed Pakistan opening batsman hit 17 boundaries in scoring 113 off 87 balls.
PIA ended up with a massive 368 for six in their 50 overs with Kamran Sajid (53 off 68 balls, four fours), skipper Moin Khan (57 off 36 balls, three sixes and two fours), Shoaib Khan (48 off 39 balls, four fours and one six) and the evergreen Asif Mujtaba (54 not out off 43 balls, two sixes and one six) also showing scant respect for the KPT bowlers.
KPT, who lost all five matches, however had some consolation in the shape of an unbeaten 100 off 111 balls by Ahmer Saeed and opener Fahad Iqbal, who hit 71 off 90 balls, as they finished on 289 for four in the allotted overs.
