THATTA, April 10: An ugly incident took place in the Thatta police station when a boy set himself on fire in a bid to kill himself in protest against alleged police torture early on Sunday morning. The youth, identified as Ghulam Haider, 16, told reporters at the police station that following an altercation over the price of a medicine with the owner of a medical store, Thatta police took him to police station where he was allegedly tortured.

He said that the station in charge and other policemen lodged him in the lock-up where he was again tortured after which he tried to immolate himself.

However, police foiled his attempt and registered a case of attempted suicide against him.
