US unhappy over religion column

By Our Correspondent

WASHINGTON, April 9: The United States has expressed its unhappiness over the inclusion of religion column in Pakistani passports.

“The United States does not favour the inclusion of religious status in passports, because such information can lead to religious discrimination and restrictions on travel,” said State Department spokesman Richard Boucher in a statement issued here on Friday. However, he said that the information contained in a passport is a matter for the Pakistani government to decide.
