Multan dominate with four golds


LAHORE, April 8: Multan Division won four gold medals to make great start in the Pakistan Railways Inter-divisional athletics championship which commenced on Friday at Railways stadium.

Out of six golds at stake, Multan’s male and female athletes caused worries for the defending champions of the prestigious “Walton Trophy” the Workshops Division which had to be content with a lone gold. Lahore grabbed the other gold.

Around 400 athletes belonging to 10 divisions of the Railways took part in the march-past which marked the opening of the Games at the tastefully decorated stadium.

Results :

MEN

800m: Haider Nadeem (Multan) 2.03sec,Yousaf Masih (Multan), Zafar Ullah (Lahore).
Triple jump: Irfan Ali (Lahore) 13.20m, Ishaq (Lahore), Ijaz Nasir (Sukkar).
Javelin throw: Asif Mahmood (Multan) 61.20m, Ghulam Abbas, (Workshops).
Pole vault: Muhammad Anwar (Multan) 3.66m, Shahid Iqbal (Karachi), Azhar Shah (Lahore).

WOMEN

800m final: Bashiran Bibi, (Multan) 2.32 sec, Salma (Workshops), Kousar (Lahore).
Javelin throw: Salam (Workshops) 36.28m, Madiha (Multan), Khadija (Workshops).—APP
