Wolpert meets Aziz


ISLAMABAD, April 8: Dr Stanley Wolpert, a renowned historian, called on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and discussed with him various issues of mutual interest.

Dr Wolpert is the author of many books, who has done a lot of research on South Asia and made efforts for peace in the region.

He is presently visiting Pakistan to attend the students convention organized by the Higher Education Commission.

Dr Wolpert congratulated the Prime Minister on the positive developments in the region and expressed the hope that the inauguration of Muzaffarabad-Srinagar bus service would augur well for peace in the region.

The prime minister said peace was a pre-requisite for progress and prosperity in the region.

Pakistan desires to resolve all outstanding issues with India, including the core issue of Kashmir in line with the aspirations and wishes of people of Kashmir, he added.

They discussed the education policy as well as the initiatives taken by the government to improve higher education in the country.—APP
