Fire in army cargo train

TOBA TEK SINGH, April 6: A compartment of army goods train caught fire here on Tuesday reducing a military vehicle to ashes. Reports said the Rawalpindi-bound train carrying about 50 army vehicles caught fire near Janiwala railway station, some 14km away from here on Toba-Faisalabad track. The railway officials called fire-fighters from Toba Tek Singh who controlled the fire and saved the other vehicles.

CONVICT DIES: A double-murder convict died on Tuesday in Jhang district jail after protracted illness.

Dilawar Khan of Gojra was awarded death on two counts by the additional district and sessions judge for killing Mahmoodul Hasan and his brother Maqbool Hasan. He became ill a few months ago and died in jail hospital.
