KARACHI, April 5: The Sindh National Council will be organizing a peace conference on Lyari on April 6. The conference will discuss various issues pertaining to the old city area, particularly the causes of ongoing gang war in which lives of more than 200 people including a prominent social figure have been lost. The conference will also highlight various social issues such as unemployment among the youths, water and electricity problems and poor road network.

A spokesman of the council said that the one-day conference to be addressed by prominent Sindhi and Baloch intellectuals and nationalist leaders would boost the positive

image of the locality which

had always been an island of peace.

He said that Lyariites had always played a vanguard role in the democratic struggle of the country and national leaders of Sindh and Balochistan had always launched their political campaigns from this area.
