Soil from pope’s birthplace

WADOWICE (Poland), April 4: A group of Polish pilgrims from Pope John Paul’s hometown of Wadowice will travel to Rome for his funeral on Friday, taking with them a small bag of soil which they hope will be buried with him. It is a tradition to take a small amount of dirt from Poland to be buried with compatriots who are interred far from their native land.—AFP
