KARACHI: Landhi Town employees seek salaries

KARACHI, April 3: The Landhi Town Employees’ Action Committee has threatened to launch a protest movement if the employees were not paid their salaries within the next three days. In a joint statement issued on Sunday, Shafiq Ahmed, Idrees Bhatti, Kashif Ahmed and other office-bearers of the committee said that the issue of delay in payment of salaries has been continued since June 2003 as the officials of the town administration used to stop salaries of the employees for physical verification or some other pretexts.

They said that the town nazim also kept silent over the issue despite the fact that various committees had checked the record of employees and informed the local government secretary through a report dated Nov 21, 2003.

The action committee leaders told that the employees of library, computer and other departments had not been paid salaries for the last three months. —PPI
