KARACHI, April 3: City Nazim Niamatullah Khan said that religious education along with that of science and technology should be imparted to the children to help them become a useful and responsible citizen. He was speaking as chief guest at the inter-seminaries Quranic recitation competition organized jointly by Jamia Baitul Quran and Jamiat Taleemul Quran, here on Sunday.
The nazim said that the religious education enabled one to utilize his scientific knowledge, while keeping in mind the fear of God.
He said the science without the fear of God leads towards tragedies like Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the worst catastrophe in the history of mankind.
The nazim described the backwardness of the Muslims a result of forgetting the Quranic teachings and said that the Muslims could lead the world only by following the teachings of Quran.
He said that children should be taught the ideology of Pakistan, so as to realize the dream of the Muslims of subcontinent.
Hafeezur Rehman, in his presidential speech, said that nothing was as sacred as the recitation of the Holy Quran and emphasized the need of a Quranic University in Karachi.
Jamiat Taleemul Quran Founder Haji Mohammad Rafi in his speech said that he had started his institution from Karachi and now the centres of Quranic learning were established in all the four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the Northern areas.
He informed that these centres were also established in 70 per cent jails of the country.
Mr Rafi said that 137 Quranic learning centres were also set up for women. — PPI
