LAHORE, April 2: The Baharia Town Cup, a class IV handicap race for Pakistani horses, features an eight-event card drawn for the 31st Lahore Winter Meeting to be held at the Racecourse on Sunday.
The event to be contested over 1600m has ten runners, barring last-minute withdrawals. On top of the contenders is six-year-old horse, Tora Bora.
This son of Baker’s Gate out-of-Nair De Fleur, Tora Bora, has since long been knocking at the door of victory but handicap and distance had not suited him to pick up the spoils.
Now he looks well-placed in the handicap and the distance of 1600 metres too seems to be going his way.
He is likely to have two seasoned runners as his main challengers like Welcome Boss and Young Emperor in this sixth race of the day.
The main supporting and seventh race, a class IV handicap race for foreign horses to be gone over 1600m has nine runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals.
The race is set to prove a match between Golden Drift and Dixie Queen. The handicap favours the latter.
The card seems very interesting. Two races will be gone over the sprinting distance of 1200 metres, two over 1400m and four over 1600m.
