‘Spadework for bus service complete’

By A Reporter

ISLAMABAD, April 1: Azad Jammu and Kashmir premier Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan on Friday informed Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz that arrangements for the commencement of the Muzaffarabad-Srinagar bus service were complete. According to a press release, Mr Hayat told the prime minister during a meeting that construction of roads and a bus terminal for the service had been completed. Mr Aziz expressed the hope that an increase in the frequency of the bus service on need basis might be considered as many people from both sides wanted to benefit from it.

He said the service was a major humanitarian confidence-building measure. Kashmir was a core issue that could not be resolved without taking into view the wishes and aspirations of the people of the region, he added. The AJK prime minister said support staff would be present at checkpoints for the passengers’ convenience and expeditious completion of formalities on their arrival in Azad Kashmir.
