MULTAN, April 1: District Nazim Riaz Husain Qureshi ordered a crackdown on elements running the unlawful business of refilling of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) on Friday just a day after nine people were injured in a cylinder blast. During a visit to the Nishtar Hospital to inquire after the health of the injured, he said those running the illegal business could not be allowed to play with the lives of the people.

He asked the officials concerned to register a case against the people running the shop on Vehari Road where the cylinder exploded. An LPG cylinder had exploded on Thursday night during refilling at the grocery-cum-gas shop of Bilal and Muhammad Ali.

Mr Qureshi visited Abdul Rashid, Abdus Sattar, Fida Husain, Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Asghar, Majeed, Saqib, Irshad and Liaquat in the wards. Nishtar Hospital medical superintendent Dr Rashid Ahmad told him that one injured having serious burn wounds has been shifted to the burn unit.—APP
