LAHORE, March 11: The Chief Minister?s Inspection Teams will monitor attendance in government offices and initiate disciplinary proceedings against those found absent.

It will also continue to monitor the performance of the government departments.

Stating this at a meeting of the team attended by chairman Arsalan Khan and secretary Javed Minhas on Friday, the provincial minister for CMIT, Col Shuja Khanzada (retired), said Pervaiz Elahi had appreciated the performance of the team and assigned it an additional task of checking attendance in offices to ensure punctuality.

He said the special teams, comprising three members each, had been constituted for monitoring the quality of work and utilization of funds on mega projects in health, irrigation, education and agriculture sectors. The teams would submit reports to the chief minister, he added.

The newly-constituted teams, he said, had started monitoring and evaluating the ongoing development schemes. A computerized record room had also been established for all the development projects.

He said the team would monitor the mega development projects on a daily basis and take action against the officials found involved in irregularities and corruption.

Road projects: District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has expressed displeasure over the use of substandard material for patchwork on roads in the city.

Presiding over a meeting held at the Jinnah Hall here on Friday to review the performance of different City District Government Lahore departments, the Nazim said the officials must check quality of the material being used for road repairs. He warned that stern action would be taken against the officials failing to check repairs of roads with substandard material.

The Nazim was briefed on the progress of work on different ongoing development projects and difficulties in execution. He ordered removal of bottlenecks in the execution of the projects and recovery of land earmarked for the construction of the Government High School, Qila Gujjar Singh, and other projects from illegal occupation.

He said the details of all the completed, ongoing and proposed development projects would be made available on the CDGL website for the information of the general public in the near future.

Meanwhile, the CDGL food squad seized and wasted 5,000 kgs of milk and 200 kgs of cream being transported to the city on a truck and three wagons from Kasur, Kanganpur and Lalliani.

The plastic drums were seized and cases under the Pure Food Ordinance provisions forwarded to courts for trial of those transporting the milk and cream.
