BAHAWALPUR, March 11: As many as 65 people have got themselves registered for the three-day Cholistan desert jeep rally.

Several people from Karachi and other parts of the country intimated the officials concerned and submitted registration fee of Rs10,000 each on Thursday, the last day for the purpose.

Sources said the aspirants deposited registration fees through bank drafts in other cities and intimated the TDCP and the district government through fax massages.

It is learnt that only four-wheelers with drivers and navigators will be allowed to participate in the rally. Helmets both for both drivers and navigators are mandatory.

The vehicles will be divided in three categories A, B and C. In category A, diesel vehicles of 1,000 to 2,000 CC and petrol vehicles of 1,000 to 1,300 CC have been registered.

In category B, diesel jeeps from 2,200 to 3,000 CC and from 1,600 to 2,500 CC (petrol) will participate. Vehicles from 3,200 to 4,600 CC (diesel) and 2,600 to 4,700 CC (petrol) have been placed in category C.

The tent village of the Derawar Fort is being developed to accommodate about 300 participants, tourists, visitors and their families, and VIPs.

CLINIC: An ultramodern clinic for breast diseases has been set up at the Bahawalpur Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology.

This was stated by Bino director Dr Naeem Ahmed Leghari here on Friday.

He said the clinic was the latest unit for the diagnosis of breast diseases and their treatment. Arrangements for lectures to create awareness among the general public had also been made here.
