ISLAMABAD, March 11: PML lawmaker Kashmala Tariq on Friday demanded of the government to provide security to gang-rape victim Mukhtar Mai, saying there was a threat to victim’s life from accused.

Ms Kashmala Tariq drew the attention of the Chair on the matter on a point of order and expressed fears that the accused might make a life attempt on her.

“Names of these accused should also be placed on exit control list and security should be provided to the victim,” Ms Kashmala Tariq said.

She also demanded issuance of a maintenance of public order (MPO) to safeguard Mukhtar Mai.

Minister of State for Interior Dr Shahzad Waseem assured the PML lawmaker that every possible measure would be taken to provide security to the victim.

He said he would also advise the provincial government to take appropriate measures.
