Weapons seized from banned outfit members

By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, March 11: The police, during a raid on a house in Westridge on Friday, arrested three activists of a banned religious outfit and seized a huge quantity of sophisticated arms and ammunition from their possession, averting a possible attempt of sabotage, sources said.

According to the police, the weapons could have been used in terrorist activities. The arms and ammunition seized included 20 hand grenades, two rockets, three sub-machine guns with magazines, one single-barrel rifle and two silencers of double- barrel rifle.

The raid was carried out by a Rawalpindi police unit, and an FIR was sealed shortly after the seizure of ammunition. In the FIR No 73 lodged with the Westridge police, the accused were identified as Ghulam Mustafa, Farrukh Ahmed and Amir Mehmood.
