KARACHI: DHA told to complete projects in time


KARACHI, March 3: The Corps Commander, Lt-Gen Syed Athar Ali, has directed the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) to go ahead with its strategic plans and complete mega projects within the scheduled timeframe while ensuring transparency, professionalism and credibility.

The corps commander issued these directives while presiding over a two-day executive board meeting held at the DHA's main office, said a press release issued on Thursday.

The executive board reviewed the technical, structural and financial aspects of some new projects, which would be initiated soon. Lt-Gen Athar asked the DHA management to adopt a progressive approach towards project implementation strategy and create optimum conducive environments for attracting maximum foreign investment required for developing an exquisite facility of international standards.

He stressed upon the need for carrying out town planning of commercial areas in DHA Phase-VIII and ensure that adequate space and car parking facilities was made available.

The executive board decided that only registered real estate agents with the DHA would be allowed to function in the authority. The details and modalities of registration would be announced soon.

Lt-Gen Athar directed the DHA to further improve the property transfer procedure and make it more convenient and transparent. He also directed the authority's officials to initiate an effective monitoring and checking system at the entry and exit points of the DHA to provide a secure and peaceful living environment to the residents.

Stressed was laid on a need to carry out beautification and cleanliness of roads, medians and open plots in the DHA. The executive board also accorded approval to construction of a new DHA main office complex in Defence Phase VI with better accessibility and parking space. -APP
