Plans ready to review school curriculum

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12: The ministry of education is all set to review the school level curriculum of both sciences and social sciences/humanities disciplines.

Talking to Dawn, a well-placed source said the summary for the formation of the curriculum review committee had already been approved by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

Under the plan, national curriculum for sciences and social sciences subjects at primary, secondary and high secondary level will be reviewed to bring them at a par with the international standards, the source said.

For this task, the ministry has also advertised posts in MP-I and MP-II scales with Rs130,000 and Rs50,000 salaries per month, respectively, for the potential candidates of the curriculum review committee, the source said.

The government has been claiming that it would review the school curriculum to make it more vibrant and responsive to the modern socio-economic, technical, professional and labour market needs of the country and comparable to the international standards. "This time, it will not just be a few lessons, chapters, one or two books; instead there will be complete review of the curriculum," the source said.
