KARACHI, Jan 3: The Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy, Dr Hamida Khuhro, on Monday reviewed and finalized a comprehensive and integrated teachers' training plan for capacity building and teaching expertise.

A statement said this would help in enhancing the academic standard in government-run educational institutions in the province. It pointed out that the working group consists of experts in various disciplines and curriculum and functions as a think-tank.

The meeting decided to immediately start three-week leadership training for headmasters and principals. Dr Hamida called for equipping sufficient amount of expertise among teachers particularly in disciplines of science, mathematics and English etc.

She stressed that teachers be provided training on effectively planning for the entire academic year. The minister also called for paying due attention to human resource development, financial management, use of computers and other IT skills.

On the occasion, she also constituted an experts' committee to ascertain the working of 25 elementary colleges working all over the province. Dr Hamida also called for an awareness campaign in order to improve enrolment at the primary level. - APP
