TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 31: The Tehsil Municipal Administration decided on Friday to name various chowks of the town after former and present Pakistan hockey players belonging to Gojra.

A resolution in this regard was tabled by the treasury members in the meeting presided over by Naib Nazim Mian Imtiaz. The house paid tributes to the hockey clubs of Gojra which produced dozens of great players for the national team and various government departments and institutions.

The chowks named after players are; Ghaffar Park Chowk (Tahir Zaman), Gadda Khana Chowk (Muhammad Irfan), Railway Station Chowk (Muhammad Khalid), Telephone Exchange Chowk (Usman Sheikh), Post Office Chowk (Irfan Mahmood), Bank of Punjab Chowk (Rashid Junior), Hussainia Colony Chowk (Khawar Javed), Hafeez Park Chowk (Muhammad Qasim), Chimni Shah Road Chowk (Tariq Imran), Civil Club Chowk (Iqbal Bali) Rasool Nagar Chowk (Tariq Aziz), Imambargah Chowk (Nadeem Andy), Cooperative Bank Chowk (Aslam Rodda), Rail Bazar Chowk (the late Muhammad Aslam), Lakkar Mandi Chowk (Muhammad Azam), Sarafa Bazaar (Salim Khalid), Mehdi Mohalla Chowk (Rashidul Hasan), Railway Crossing Chowk (Danish Kalim) and Railway Godown Chowk (Muhammad Asif).
