KARACHI: CM suggests setting up radio station in Thar

KARACHI, Dec 1: The Chief Minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, on Wednesday suggested setting up a high-powered radio station in the Thar region, saying it would help develop media in all regions of the country.

He was talking to the State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli, who called on him at the Chief Minister House on Wednesday. Dr Rahim said the radio station, could in the future, help highlight the cultural aspects of the region and guide the federal and provincial governments in alleviating poverty and solving the regions' problems.

He also suggested that facilities of the Press Information Department should be extended to upper Sindh as well, while a News Bureau of the PTV should be set up in Sukkur. He also called for appointment of a producer at the Hyderabad news bureau along with increased facilities.

He informed that the Ministry of Information were examining the establishment of a radio station in Thar and a PTV news bureau in Sukkur. He observed that the radio station could project the true image of Pakistan across the border, and Thar was the place where the campaign needed to be started from, saying that building a radio station meant a lot to Pakistan. - PPI/APP
