LAHORE: Call to review decision on new bus-stand

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, Nov 17: The Pakistan Motor Transport Federation has demanded review of the City District Government decision to allow operation of buses from its newly-developed bus stand on Bund Road after bidding.

Federation vice-president Haji Naseer Ahmed Butt said in a statement on Wednesday that the decision was against the spirit of the liberal route permit policy under which every bus owner had the right to get a route permit of his choice.

He said the decision was also discriminatory because the CDG wanted to deprive the transporters owning less than 10 buses from operating services from the new bus stand.

He called upon District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood and DCO Khalid Sultan to review the decision and bring it in conformity with the liberal route permit policy. No bus owner with a route permit for operating his services from or to the provincial metropolis should be barred from using the new bus stand in accordance with the spirit of the liberal transport policy, he added.
