KARACHI: Four shot dead in separate incidents: Pedestrian dies

KARACHI, Nov 17: Four persons were shot dead in separate incidents in different parts of the city on Wednesday and late Tuesday night. Bullet-riddled bodies of two young men were found in Lyari on Wednesday morning.
Police said the bodies were found near the Maulvi Usman Park in Chakiwara police limits. Both the victims were trussed up, blind folded and shot in the head, they said.
The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for post mortem examination. The victims were later identified as Khurram Memon, 25, resident of Kharadar and Waheed Khan, 30, residing at Niazi Chowk, Baghdadi.
Police said that Waheed Khan had allegedly killed an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Abdul Rehman alias Bhura, adding that Waheed Khan's father Badshah Khan is also a notorious criminal.
Another bullet-riddled body was found in Surjani Town on Tuesday night. Police said that Fayyaz Husain, 16, had been missing since Nov 7. Though the police had apprehended Naseer, nominated by the victim's father, he enjoyed immunity during his remand.
Finally the victim's father, Altaf Husain, an engineer in the national carrier, approached IGP Syed Kamal Shah and got the case transferred to the investigation wing of Sharea Faisal police.
During interrogation, the suspect divulged the whereabouts of the body. Subsequently, the police recovered the body beneath a bridge in Sector-10 of Surjani Town.
Area people were of the opinion that since the suspect was associated with a political party, he enjoyed the initial immunity. His associates were frequently, visiting him in the lock up of the Shah Faisal Colony police station.
Following the transfer of the case to Sharea Faisal investigation wing, the case was solved within 48 hours. The body was shifted to hospital for post-mortem examination on Tuesday night.
Police suspect that the victim was also subjected to sexual abuse. However, hospital sources said that the body was 10 days old and bore two bullet wounds. As the body was decomposed, the evidence of sodomy could not be ascertained, hospital sources added.
Meanwhile, DIG Investigation Manzoor Ahmed Mughal on Ð/3Ð/# Š Wednesday suspended and reverted Inspector Aslam of Shah Faisal Investigation, who was initially assigned the case. Similarly, DIG Operations Mushtaq Shah also suspended and reverted SHO Shah Faisal Colony Jameel Bangash following the incident.
In Garden, a young man was shot dead on Wednesday night. Police said that Abdul Hafeez was at a PCO when armed men opened fire at him and fled. Abdul Hafeez and the PCO owner were wounded. Both the victims were taken to the Civil Hospital where Abdul Hafeez was pronounced dead.
DROWNING: The bodies of two boys, who drowned in the Lyari river on Tuesday, could not be recovered on Wednesday. Police said that nine-year-old Soni and eight-year-old Sajid were taking bath in the river when they drowned. Efforts to recover the bodies were initiated soon after the incident, but the bodies could not be recovered even on Wednesday.
ACCIDENT: A pedestrian died in a hit-and-run accident in Garden area on Wednesday. Police said that Aslam, 30, was crossing the main road when he was knocked down by a speeding vehicle. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
