KARACHI, Oct 3: Marksmen from Pakistan Army and Pakistan Navy dominated the National Games shooting competitions, scooping-up two gold medals each at Navy Shooting Range on Sunday.

Army reined supreme in the 3x40 rifle 50-metre three position event when they grabbed the gold in individual and team contests. Mushtaq won the gold for Army in the individual event with a score of 1229.8 out of 1309 followed by his team mate Siddique who accumulated 1217.4 points, while Navy's Dawood Jan won the bronze with 1208.6 points.

The trio of Mushtaq, Siddique and Kaleem won the team gold for Army with a score of 3361 out of 3600. Navy settled for the silver with their team of Dawood Jan, Ayaz Tahir and M. Hanif mustering 3335, while PAF got the bronze through Asghar, M. Naeem and M. Yaseen who scored 3090.

Today's performance enabled Army to remain at top of medals table. Army topped the individual as well as team medals table with a total of 17 and 10 medals respectively.

While the soldiers dominated the rifle events, the sailors excelled in 25-metre centre fire pistol when Irshad Ali clinched the gold with a score of 575 out of 600. Army settled for the silver through M. Kabeer who scored 565, while Wapda's Saif finished with a bronze having a score of 560.

The Navy trio of Irshad Ali, Zahid Ali and M.H. Tabasum secured the second gold after winning the team event with a score of 1691 out of 1800. M. Kabeer, Idrees Rasheed and Mustaqeem Shah helped Army get the silver, scoring 1670, while Wapda got the bronze with Saif, Jawaid and Saqib Ikram scoring 1606.
