PESHAWAR, Sept 24: The Peshawar High Court on Friday granted bail to a woman charged with killing her husband.

A single-judge bench of Justice Ijaz Afzal ordered that the petitioner, Ms Naeema, be released after furnishing two sureties of Rs50,000 each.

The court granted the bail on medical grounds in view of the woman being in advanced stage of pregnancy. Advocate Khwaja Mohammad Khan appeared for the petitioner and argued that an ultrasound report had proved that she was pregnant.

He said she was entitled to be released on bail due to non-availability of proper medical facilities in the prison. The petitioner was married to Alamzeb Khan of Tarnab area.

On June 18, Mr Khan was found dead in his house with a firearm injury. His father accused the petitioner of murdering her husband.
