KARACHI, Sept 23: A young man was shot dead by unknown persons in Samnabad on Thursday. Police said Saifullah Abid, 40, stopped his car at a cold drink shop in Nazimabad, when unknown suspects demanded cash from him. As he offered resistance, they shot at him and fled.

Police said that victim's wife took her husband to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Hospital sources said that the victim suffered a bullet wound in his head.

The victim was a mechanical engineer and had returned from Nigeria two months back. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Shamim Shaheed police post. A day earlier, a bank dacoity worth 34 lakhs was committed in a bank located at the walking distance of the police post.

Another young man was shot dead by unknown persons in Lyari on Thursday. Police said Shahjehan, 17, was sitting near his house in Shah Baig Lane in Baghdadi police jurisdiction when unknown persons on a motorcycle opened fire at him and fled. Police said that Shah Jehan had a quarrel with his friends Bahadur and Latif over some matter who had threatened him of dire consequences. The victim was also a drug addict.

STABBED: A young girl was stabbed to death and her neighbour was injured when a young man also from the neighbourhood attacked them in Saddar. Police said Fauzia, 18, was present in her house in Bizzerta lane when a suspect identified by victim's sisters as Kashif entered the house.

As Fauzia raised an alarm, a neighboured identified as Babar, entered the house. The police said that Kashif stabbed Fauzia and escaped after injuring Babar. Both the injured were taken to JPMC where Fauzia was pronounced dead. The police are making raids for the arrest of Kashif.
