14 Mujahideen among 18 killed in Kashmir


SRINAGAR, Sept 18: Indian troops shot dead 14 Mujahideen in clashes in occupied Kashmir overnight and Saturday, while Mujahideen killed four civilians, officials said.

Five Mujahideen were killed when the army raided a suspected hideout in Poonch district on Saturday, a defence ministry spokesman said.

A police spokesman said six more Kashmiri fighters were shot dead in three gunbattles overnight in the northern Baramulla district, while another was killed on Saturday near Qazigund, 80 kilometres south of Srinagar.

Two more Mujahideen were shot dead in the northern Kupwara district overnight and Saturday by Indian troops, police said.

Troops seized arms and ammunition after each of the clashes, the officials said.

Police said Mujahideen killed three four people in Poonch, Rajouri and Doda overnight and Saturday.-AFP
