ISLAMABAD, Sept 13: Speakers at a conference here on Monday paid glowing tributes to Dr Allama Nasir-al Din Nasir Hunzai for the invaluable services he has been rendering to humanity through his unending quest for understanding and highlighting the spiritual teachings of Islam and universal brotherhood.

Participants of the 'Third Conference on Spiritual Science' also vociferously told the West and the United States that there was no place for terrorism and sectarianism in Islam and that the great religion stood for peace, brotherhood and inter and intra cultural harmony.

'The Wise Quran and the World of Humanity I & II', a book written by Dr Hunzai, was also launched on the occasion. The conference had been organized by Danishgah-i-Khanah-i- Hikmat in collaboration with the Institute for Spiritual Wisdom, US and UK, Burushaski Research Academy, Pakistan and the literary body Diara.

Federal Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, who was the chief guest on the occasion, appreciated the work of Dr Hunzai and asked the countrymen to understand the true spirit of Islam. Quran, he said, was a complete code of life and Pakistan could achieve prosperity only after following the true teachings of the holy Quran.

The spiritual aspect of Islam, as highlighted by Dr Hunzai in his works, has received greater importance in the post 9/11 world which is full of smoke, doubts, frustration, vengeance and attacks.

Since the attack on the World Trade Centre, a debate about the nature of Islam is going on in the West as well as in the East which has given birth to the notion of the 'clash of civilization' and the 'barbaric tendencies'. But, a few are aware of the real meaning and spirit of Islam.

According to Dr Hunzai, the faith of Islam is the culmination of one religion of one God, which in the present cycle began with Hazrat Adam and continued through Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus and was completed by Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

However, according to the author, the faith could be described as a 'rare and luminous painting', which has become covered with layers of dust of misunderstanding and cobwebs of mispresentation.

The author has tried to peel off all layers of dust and bring to light the essence of Islam, which is that human beings are the highest creation of God, they have been created in the Image of the Compassionate, they are the children of Adam and that they are higher in status than the angels.

The goal of Dr Hunzai is the prosperous future of all human beings and harmony on the planet of earth. Because, for him, people are "God's household and hence equally loved by the God Almighty. For him goodwill is such an unprecedented and miraculous medicine which can cure many inner diseases.

Better known as Baba-i Burushaski (father of Burushaski), Lisanul Qawm (the spokesman of the nation) and Hakimul Qalam (the sage of the pen), the 85-year-old Dr Hunzai has authored about 150 books. His works have also been translated into English, French, Swedish, Persian and Gujrati.

An internationally acclaimed literary figure, Dr Hunzai has written spiritual poetry of a unique and outstanding quality in four languages included Urdu, Persian, Chinese, Turkish and Burushaski.

His Diwan has been a source of inspiration for the followers of spiritualism. It was Dr Hunzai, who for the first time developed Burushaski alphabets in 1940 and added eight new letters to one of the most ancient languages of the world. The new alphabets have a peculiar resemblance with some sounds in Urdu language.
