Four file nominations for Senate by-election

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28: Four candidates have filed nominations for the Sept 14 by-election for a Senate general seat from Punjab vacated by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, the Election Commission said on Saturday.

Today (Aug 28) was last date for filing the papers.

According to a commission's press release, Attock district Nazim Tahir Sadiq, Mohammad Barjees Tahir of the PML-N, Nawab Ambar Shahzada and Sardar Mahmood Khan had filed their papers which would be scrutinised on Aug 30.

The Attock Nazim was the main campaigner of Mr Aziz in the Aug 18 by-elections for an MNA from Attock, while Mr Shahzada was opposition candidate.
