COLOMBO, Aug 16: Unidentified gunmen, allegedly members of the LTTE, shot dead yet another anti-LTTE Tamil on Monday in the heart of Colombo.

K. Balanadarajan, a senior member and spokesperson for the Tamil political party, the EPDP, the only Tamil rival of the LTTE, was shot dead as he was walking out of his house in a Colombo suburb inhabited mostly by Tamils.

Mr Balanadarajan was a journalist attached to a Tamil language newspaper that had of late stepped up criticism of the LTTE.

The head of the EPDP, Douglas Devananda, who is also the Tamil affairs minister in the government of President Kumaratunge, just a month ago narrowly escaped a suicide bomb attack.
