PESHAWAR, July 9: The People's Party Parliamentarians hopes that genuine democratic forces in Tharparkar and Attockwill get the nominees of genuine opposition elected in the forthcoming by-elections in Sindh and Punjab.
The PPP provincial president Rahimdad Khan, in a statement, termed the nomination of Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz a blow to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League, which had failed to resist the dictations by 'dictators'.
The resignation of Mir ZafarullahKhan Jamali and nomination of Mr Aziz has exposed the political wisdom and commitment of the united PML leadership, he added.
The Alliance for Restoration Democracy (ARD), he hoped, would field joint candidates on both seats and give a stunning defeat to the nominee the of foreign financial institutions. He said the people had given defeat to the nominees of exploitative classes in the past and would give a similar results in the by-elections.
He alleged that the PML government had started squandering of national exchequer on the electioneering of Mr Aziz in the Punjab and Sindh, which would set a wrong precedence in the country. Despite having portfolio of finance, Mr Aziz had done nothing for alleviation of poverty in Pakistan, he added.
He alleged that the rulers had made the country a satellite of the western powers after the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq and carrying out their agenda in Pakistan.
