SUKKUR, July 2: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Sukkur, on Friday announced the results of Secondary School Certificate examinations.
In the science group, Irfan Majeed, son of Abdul Majeed Arain, of the Ever Shine Secondary School, Ranipur, stood first with 754 marks, Kubra Raza, daughter of Ghulam Raza Halipota, of the Government Girls High School, Kotdiji, got the second position by securing 739 marks and Ashfaq Ali, son of Ghulam Hussain Malah, of the Mazhar Muslim Model Higher Secondary School, Ranipur, grabbed the third position with 738 marks.
In the general group, Tariq Ahmad Ansari, son of Abdul Khaliq Ansari, of the Government High School, Pakka Jhanghra, stood first. He obtained 757 marks. Amjad Ali, son of Maula Bux Bullo, of the Government High School, Taj Mohammad Ruk, got the second position by obtaining 642 marks and Maliha, daughter of Izhar Ahmad Shaikh, of the Government Girls High School, Sukkur, stood third with 636 marks.
In the science group, 295 candidates were placed in A-I grade, 3,922 in A grade, 8,402 in B grade, 6,950 in C grade, 1,867 in D grade and 20 in E grade while 2,997 were declared failed.
The pass percentage remained 87.31. In the general group, 25 were placed in A grade, 245 in B grade, 532 in C grade, 203 in D grade and four in E grade while 197 students failed the examinations. The pass percentage remained 83.46.
FARMERS' PROTEST: Growers of Baqapur town, Jacobabad district, took out a procession and held a sit-in on the Indus highway on Friday against the non-availability of irrigation water in the Noor Wah.
The protesters led by Sabbir Khoso, Mustafa Jakhrani and others blocked the road near the Gateway hotel for three hours due to which traffic to Sukkur and Shikarpur was disturbed.
They said that no water was available in Noor Wah from 11th to 19th mile. They accused the irrigation department officials of selling water to influential while the poor growers were longing for water.
The irrigation engineer and the TPO reached the site of blockade and negotiated with protesters. They assured that water would be made available to growers of tail in the next three days.
